How to scrape leads
A step-by-step walkthrough for building high-quality, targeted lead lists with XAutoDM's scraper.
Three ways to build a list
Scrape a profile's followers
Enter any X username and pull their followers — best for targeting people already following someone in your niche.
Upload a CSV
Have a list already? Upload a CSV of usernames — XAutoDM enriches each lead and checks DM-ability.
Import a starter list
XAutoDM ships pre-built starter lists of common audiences. Import one to skip scraping entirely.
Define your ideal lead
Before you scrape anything, get specific. Vague targeting means low reply rates.
Find authority accounts in your niche
The best lead source is the followers of accounts your ideal customer already follows.
- 1. Ask Google or ChatGPT: "Who are the top 10 X accounts for [your niche]?"
- 2. Look for 10k–500k followers — big enough for quality, small enough to be specific.
- 3. Note 5–10 usernames to use as lead sources.
Example: Targeting SaaS founders → scrape followers of @lennysan, @andrewchen, or @patio11. Targeting coaches → scrape popular coaching accounts in your niche.
Run the scraper
Go to Leads → New Lead List and point the scraper at your target.
Go to Leads in the sidebar, then click New Lead List.
Enter the X username whose followers you want (just the handle, no @).
XAutoDM pulls followers page by page — you'll see a live progress indicator.
When it finishes, apply filters (Step 4), then save with a descriptive name.
Apply filters for quality
Raw follower lists contain bots and irrelevant profiles. Filters clean that up with no extra API cost.
Bio keywords (include)
Words your ideal lead has in their bio — "founder", "coach", "saas". Leads must match at least one.
Bio keywords (exclude)
Prefix with a dash to exclude — "-crypto" removes crypto profiles. Great for cutting irrelevant niches.
Follower count range
Set a min and max, e.g. 1,000–50,000 for micro-influencers. Big counts don't always mean better leads.
Can DM
Only include people whose DMs are open. On by default — no point queuing someone you can't reach.
Verified
Filter for Blue-verified accounts to target a more professional, paying audience.
Save and use the list
Give it a descriptive name like "Naval followers – founders 1k–50k", then put it to work.
Use in a campaign
Pick this list when creating a campaign. The engine drips DMs to each lead.
Export as CSV
Download handle, name, bio, follower count, and DM-ability for use anywhere.
Re-filter anytime
Apply new filters to a saved list without re-scraping. Try different combos for free.
Reuse across campaigns
One list can power multiple campaigns — different angles or follow-up sequences.
Tips for better results
Test multiple authority accounts — some have far better-qualified audiences.
Combine bio keywords with a follower count range for a more specific slice.
Start with a smaller filtered list (500–1,000) to test your message before scaling.
Use the exclusion filter ("-") aggressively to remove irrelevant niches.
Re-segment the same source with new filters if a campaign underperforms — same data, zero extra cost.
