What is the Twitter (X) DM limit?
X publishes a hard ceiling of 500 direct messages per day for a standard account, with higher ceilings on Premium tiers. That number is real, and it is also the single most misleading figure in X outreach, because almost nobody can actually send it.
The ceiling is the point at which X stops you. Restrictions start far earlier and depend on things the published number ignores: how old the account is, whether it is verified, how many of your messages get replies, how many get reported, and how fast you send. A two-week-old account attempting 500 DMs will be restricted within the hour.
So this calculator does not tell you the ceiling and leave you there. It gives you a daily rate to actually operate at, plus a warm-up ramp to reach it — because the accounts that keep sending are the ones that started slow.

Tips for better results
- Reply rate protects you more than volume limits do. Messages people answer are the strongest signal that you are not spam.
- Spread sends across the day. Fifty messages in ten minutes reads very differently to fifty across eight hours.
- One restriction is a warning. Pause for 48 hours and restart at roughly half your previous rate.
- Scaling means adding accounts, not pushing one account harder. The ceiling per account does not move much.
