DM stands for Direct Message, which is a private message sent between Twitter/X users. Unlike public Tweets, DMs are only visible to the sender and recipient(s). By default, you can send DMs to people who follow you, though users can change their settings to accept DMs from anyone. DMs have a higher character limit than Tweets and can include photos, videos, links, and other media. DMs are often used for more private conversations, customer service interactions, or networking.
